Danielle (Gabrielle) Higgs is a portrait painter who also explores time-based and sculptural art. Her preferred medium to paint with is oil but she occasionally uses acrylic.

Higgs is from a small, beautiful island in The Bahamas called Harbour Island. An island filled with bright and bold colors, from the restaurants and homes to the pink sand beaches. These colors are persistent in her work, painting people of color in a positive and uplifting way. We were and still are thought of as less but Higgs’ work is focused on showing the opposite of the ideology. Our beauty, our courage, and boldness can and will fill any room; she usually works with larger scales so that it's hard for viewers to ignore.

Alongside uplifting people of color and incorporating the colors within her island, Higgs is a contemporary Christian artist. She recognizes that her talent is from God and that the figures she paints are His creations. She is fascinated by the fact that there are over a billion people with different facial features and physiques. She is currently a senior at Ringling College of Art and Design majoring in Fine Arts.
